New job!
I am the new “group fitness coach”at the site www.lifeportalen.se which is most updated site within health and fitness in Sweden at the moment.
I´m gonna (try to) answer your questions about group fitness - and I´ll write articles every week within the same area! So, please surf by!
And as you know… At the moment I am writing a daily guest blog at www.fitness-magazine.com
No commentstough times…
This is the worst time of the year for someone that´s freelance - and exercises for a living, everyday! Everyone is sick… and I´m surrounded by germs that can´t wait to attack.
After all the three intense (and very fun) Nike Conventions they did hit me and I got the flu:big time… Fever, a soar throat, toothache and everything you can think of.
I was able to be home and rest for two days - which means three classes, but day no 3 I just couldn´t find any subs for my classes and for me it is even more stressful to have to call over 50 instructors hour after hour, then just go and teach the class myself.
At the same time I don´t feel that professional when I show up at the gym, coughing - and in the worst shape of all, just longing for the class to be done so I can go back to my bed.
Every week we get an email from our training managers, who tells us about the statistics for the week. The goal is to have no “no shows” (of course) no subs and no classes that´s beed replaced with another type of class.. and I can understand this, but how far is it ok to reach the goals?
A co-worker of mine found a note at the wall at his club from the training manager that wrote:
“Hey guys!
I just want to give some extra cred to XX this week. Even though she was really really sick with fever she came and teached her class… that I call a true role model and loyal to the company.”
At the same time we have expectations to be serious about our jobs, to be professional, and to look at our jobs as a real job - which I do, very much..but people like this manager makes it really hard for me to be serious…
Besides my own stress for loosing money if I am sick - I should also feel guilty about it? cause if I sub away my classes I reduce the sub-statistics, and if I don´t teach my classes even though I am sick I am not loyal to the company? Is that a healthy policy?
I love my job: I always put my heart into it, but I don´t want to sacrifice my heart for it!
Now I´m starting to feel better though - and I look forward to my classes tomorrow wednesday:
6.45 pilates Tule
17.00 core Fridhemsplan
17.30 funk Fridhemsplan
Come and join me!
No commentsLast Nike Stop - Helsinki..
The small Nike Nordic Tour I´ve been on finished this weekend with Finland, and Helsinki. It was a great convention and I had so much fun. I was teaching two streetjazz classes and one afro - and then I team teached BODYJAM with Matteo from Portugal.
Last year at this convention I got really sick - with a nasty flu: fever and a sore throat. I couldn´t even do all my classes - which I was so sad about.
This year it went better…the flu hit me - again - but at least not until I was done with my classes, and that I´m very happy for.
Some of my Nike Team Player from Sweden joined me this weekend, Niklas Liljesand, Maria Olofsson and Petter Ehrnvall. They all did great classes and I´m proud to have so excellent co-workers…
Petter, Niklas, Maria and Matteo
Nadia and Maria Nadia presented her own concept; ”Inner Warrior”
and she also did a team class with Marc, both were really good and appreciated classes.
And here is me and Matteo.. recharging for the BODYJAM.
I just loved the participants in Helsinki, they were so good and so on to it. Thank you for reminding me why I just love love love to teach and share my passion!
No commentsNike Weekend; the convention!
It has been a great weekend, a magical weekend. It is always a special feeling to enter the venue early saturday morning, and this year was no exception. But this year the venue it self was even cooler, better, more stylish and the atmosphere even more special.
I presented both my classes at sunday; street jazz, and BODYJAM, so I could really hang out and enjoy at saturday. I took three classes, two of them for Tony Stone; video dance and house, and then show jazz for Helena Åkesson. So much fun all of them!
Early saturday morning… Björn, Lotte, Madde and Oscar!
Fredrik and Oscar presented a wicked BODYCOMBAT class - here with lovely Sara!
I had an AWESOME crowd (210 people) at my street jazz class sunday morning, THANK YOU all that joined me - and made my day by beeing so excellent!
…and from the BODYJAM with Kimmo and Dorotka - or, should I say BODYJIVE?
Gaelle from France, Kimberly from UK, and Marc from the US!
Hot stuff: Me, Oscar, Joaqin, Per and Lotte!
No commentsNike weekend, friday!
Finally - It´s been time for the biggest dance - and fitness event of the year, in the Nordic. The Nike Convention, Stockholm!
This year it´s the convention celebrates 15th years, and it´s my 7th year in a row as a presenter! I am still as excited about it though as my first time, in 2003 - and still as nervous (in a good way) before I enter the stage.
Friday, the whole team gathered at the Nike office in Solna for a workshop in the spring-09´s collection, and some thoughts around the theme of the weekend; have a strong day!
After that some of us went to NK for some live PR in the window.
Together with the inspirational Cecilia Gustafsson I did some afro moves…
